TourGuide

TourGuide is a new way to plan and keep track of activities while going on vacation. With TourGuide, users can keep all of their travel plans organized within one place leaving them to enjoy their trips worry free.

The Problem
Planning a trip and keeping track of all the planned aspects can be extremely stressful, causing a negative impact on the user's overall travel experience.
The Goal
Develop a travel app that allows the user to plan all the aspects of their travel needs. This includes ways to both plan and keep track of various aspects of travel.
Process
Research
Conducted user interviews to deduce pain points
Ideate
Created an empathy map and affinity diagram to narrow features
Design
Design low and high fidelity wireframes
Test
Test designs via user testing

Ideate
After interviewing participants, I created a user scenario to get into the mindset of the user. This helped me understand their journey through travel planning and the pain points they encounter.

Once I established a view through the eyes of the user, I was able to prioritize features of the products through a Value Proposition. This allowed me to narrow down what was beneficial to the user.

Design
Paper Wireframes
To start the design process, I drew wireframes to get an idea of what direction to take with the information gathered from the feature prioritization.

Low- Fidelity Wireframes
Based on the wireframe sketches, I created Low-Fidelity wireframes to do some initial user testing.

Testing
User testing was conducted using a higher fidelity prototype based on the previous designs.

Testing Insights
Changes Made

Final Thoughts
Throughout the design process I developed many vital skills. I learned the importance of stepping back and taking a look at your design and that it's okay to scrap the whole design if necessary. Starting over is not necessarily a bad thing. In this context it allowed me to create a much better experience and something that I was proud of. Future Direction

Research
To direct the design of the project first I needed to understand who the user was. Understanding the user would allow me to make sure the design is on track to successfully meet their needs. To kick off the user research, I conducted user interviews. The results from interviews allowed me to identify the major pain points users had in their recent travel planning processes.
Interview Findings:
"I like having an organized schedule when traveling places, but it can often be hard to really keep track of everything" - Trip Planner
"It can be hard to remember everything we plan when we are on vacation" - Avid Vacationer
User Persona
Using the findings from the user interviews, I created a user persona to direct the design process.
